Black Bean Burger

The fastest veggie burger recipe you'll ever make! I also love it because the patties can be cooked on the barbecue.

Servings : 4-6 patties

Ingredients

  • 540 ml (19 oz) black beans (1 can or cooked)

  • 1 small onion

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • ¼ cup (60 ml) ground flaxseed

  • ¼ cup (60 ml) quick-cooking oatmeal (grits)

  • ¼ cup (60 ml) of water

  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) chili powder

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) cumin

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) canola oil

  • Salt & pepper

Preparation

  1. In a food processor, add beans, onion and garlic and mix until semi-smooth. If you don’t have a food processor, roughly crush the beans with a potato masher and finely chop the onion and garlic.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine all other ingredients.

  3. Form patties and cook in a non-stick skillet with a little oil or on a barbecue.

  4. Serve on buns with the condiments of your choice.
