Tofu Bacon

It’s so delicious, you can eat it as it is! However, it’s better to eat as much as possible directly out of the oven, because it loses its crispness when you warm it up in the microwave.

Cooking : 15 min

Servings : 25 slices

Ingredients

  • 450 g (1 pack) extra-firm tofu

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 4 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 Tbsp oil (I used olive oil)

  • 3 tsp liquid smoke

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375˚F (190˚C)

  2. Mix the onion powder, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, maple syrup, oil and liquid smoke. Pour over tofu slices and marinate for a few minutes.

  3. Lighlty oil the baking pan or line with a silicone mat, then place tofu slices on.

  4. Bake 15 minutes or until the tofu is crispy.

  5. Serve on bread and top with vegan mayonnaise, tomato slices and lettuce for a BLT sandwich.
